Dr. Brennan, a board-certified internist, is Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Aetna. In this role, Dr. Brennan oversees all clinical policy and medical management.

Before joining Aetna, he was President and CEO of Brigham and Women's Physician Organization from 2000 to 2006. In his academic work, he served as Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Professor of Law and Public Health at Harvard School of Public Health.

Dr. Brennan received his medical degree and master's degree in public health from Yale Medical School and a law degree from Yale Law School. He is a member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences, was Chair of the ABIM Board of Directors from 2004 to 2005 and is currently a Trustee of the ABIM Foundation.
