The American Board
   of Internal Medicine (ABIM)

The American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) is an independent, not-for-profit organization that grants board certification—a marker of physician quality in the United States and internationally—to internists and subspecialists. The ABIM creates these standards through rigorous examinations and tools to assess physician excellence through Certification and Maintenance of Certification.

The ABIM Foundation serves as a complement to ABIM and permits exploration of the broader set of issues that are central to the common mission of ABIM and the ABIM Foundation: to enhance quality of care.
