Harmonize Public and Private Payer Innovation Efforts to Facilitate Effective Payment Reform

At the 2009 ABIM Foundation Forum, a diverse group of stakeholders formed a discussion group around harmonizing public and private payer efforts to advance innovations in physician payment reforms.  The group met after the Forum’s conclusion to develop a policy proposal to promote alignment in public and private innovation efforts, and encourages all stakeholders to utilize the proposal in health reform discussions with policymakers. This proposal has been shared with staff of health committees in both the House and the Senate and was included in recent testimony to the House of Representatives Steering and Policy Committee by Karen Davis, President of The Commonwealth Fund.
