In 2011, inaugural Professionalism Article Prizes were awarded in three categories:
- Commentary/Perspective
- Medical Education and Training
- Professionalism in Practice
The articles were selected from more than 100 peer-reviewed articles on professionalism which were published in 2010.
The 2010 Professionalism Article Prize winners were:

"Cost Consciousness in Patient Care—What is Medical Education’s Responsibility?" by Molly Cooke, MD (Medical Education and Training)
"Physicians’ Perceptions, Preparedness for Reporting, and Experiences Related to Impaired and Incompetent Colleagues" by Catherine M. DesRoches, DrPH; Sowmya R. Rao, PhD; John A. Fromson, MD; Robert J. Birnbaum, MD, PhD; Lisa Iezzoni, MD, MSc; Christine Vogelli, PhD; and Eric G. Campbell, PhD. (Professionalism in Practice)
